Break the January Blues with the Daliso Chaponda Stand-up Comedy Show!

It is with little doubt that most of us have been hit by the much dreaded ‘General January’ bug one too many times. However this year’s month of January promises to end on a different note with a prescribed dose of much needed laughter therapy in the form of a stand-up comedy show by Daliso Chaponda scheduled to beat the so-called January blues and continue the year on a much lighter note.

Marked as his third show in Malawi, UK Based comedian Daliso Chaponda is returning this month end to especially showcase his new show called the ‘Antisocial Commentator’ for his Malawian fan base.  The shows will be held on the 27th of January at Crossroads Hotel, followed by another show on January 28th at Robins Park in Blantyre.

“I like to talk about uncomfortable subjects on stage.  shame, infidelity, sex,  political injustice and the like and I am the non- sociable person at the party who keeps bringing up things people don’t think are proper to bring up and hence the AntiSocial Commentator,“ Daliso explains.

Both shows which are scheduled to start at 19:30hrs will feature open acts from supporting artist musical comedian Scott Gray. Tickets for the show are available at MK2500 in advance and MK3000 at the door.

“After performing the Antisocial Commentator in Malawi, I will be travelling to Zimbabwee and Canada to continue with the Laughrica tour from last year and the Antisocial Commentator, but I wanted to pass through home first and launch my new material,” he further adds.

Due to the amazing reviews and feedback received from the ‘Laughrica’ show held at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe last year, the antisocial commentator will be a bigger and better show with a live DVD recording to be done and produced for fans to later on purchase in the near future.

Daliso Chaponda began his career in Canada and has since performed at several renowned festivals like the Canadian Just for Laughs comedy festival, Melbourne, Cape Town and Johannesburg comedy festivals, as well as the most recent Zimbabwe hosted Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) and Stand-Up Africa comedy festival in South Africa.

Furthermore, Daliso is also an established fiction novel and movie script writer who boasts of a versatile portfolio having been a finalist at the Ron Hubbard Writer’s of the Future Contest as well as been nominated for the Carl Brandon Society and the Northwestern England Comedian of the year Awards.
